The IFL season is ROCKETING to a conclusion over the next month and the playoffs will be hear before we know it. We've got a decent idea of what the playoff picture is going to look like, but the seeding is totally up for grabs at this point and can go many different directions.
We've got picks for this week lined up and ready to roll, but let's review how last week went before we dive into those:
IFL Week 14 Review
Green Bay-Fishers Over 90.5 - Winner
Combined for 113 points
Quad City -2.5 - Loser
Jacksonville wins outright 65-33
Tulsa-Massachusetts Over 76.5 - Winner
Combined for 95 points
Iowa +13.5 - Loser
Vegas dominates & covers,
Northern Arizona-Tucson Over 82.5 - Winner
Combined for 97 points
Arizona +6.5 - Loser
Bay Area wins & covers, 37-24
San Antonio-San Diego Under 82.5 - Loser
Combined for 102 points
3-4 week. Not great! Still looking to regain some of that mojo we had in the beginning of the year. But maybe my picks are not what is wrong, it’s the teams that are wrong!
Let's sprinkle in some picks that I hate with a couple that make sense to try to correct the vibes here. LET'S FIND SOME WINNERS!
2025 IFL Record: 37-38
Jacksonville Sharks vs Iowa Barnstormers (Saturday 6/28 @ 8:05PM ET)
The Play: Iowa +14.5
Iowa HAS to be due for a big win, right? Beating Jacksonville would absolutely be one of the funniest possible outcomes in the entire league this week, and it isn’t as farfetched as you would think.
Jacksonville is coming off of their biggest win of the season, in which their rookie QB drastically overperformed — and I think this line got a a couple points added to it for that same reason.
We’re due for a “god damn Iowa where has THIS team been?!” game from the Barnstormers, but it’s identifying it that is the hard part. This pick is kinda dumb but we’ll run it back with Iowa plus the points. Eventually we’ll be right, right? RIGHT?!
Prediction: 50-46 Jacksonville
Massachusetts Pirates vs Quad City Steamwheelers (Saturday 6/28 @ 8:05PM ET)
The Play: Over 78.5
Earlier this season, these two teams faced off and combined for a total of 70 points (QC win 37-33). But that was when the Pirates offense was gross and missing some direction and while Quad City was starting to get its act together as well.
If they nearly hit this total when these offenses were in their infancy stages of development, they should absolutely be able to hit it with a Pirates offense that has scored 120+ points total in their last 2 games alone and a Quad City team looking for a strong bounceback after getting boat raced last week.
Points, points, points.
Prediction: 46-44 Quad City
Fishers Freight vs Tulsa Oilers (Saturday 6/28 @ 8:05PM ET)
The Play: Fishers +8.5
Losing TJ Edwards and still being an 8.5 point favorite is a little crazy to me. Freight are coming off of a big win against Green Bay and seemed to finally find some answers for more consistency at the QB position, while Tulsa is a giant question mark at the moment after signing QB Kobe Gatson.
Tulsa has the defense to win this game, but the offense is just a big unknown to be getting 8.5. Feels like Fishers is the right play until we see what Tulsa’s offense looks like with their new QB.
Prediction: 43-39 Tulsa
Bay Area Panthers vs Northern Arizona Wranglers (Saturday 6/28 @ 9:05PM ET)
The Play: Over 84.5
That 17.5 number for Bay Area is scary. Tempting (and likely) but just so many points for a Northern Arizona team that has shown some fight in the last month when Ramon Atkins was at QB.
Half of Bay Area’s roster seemed to come over from last year’s Northern Arizona team, so they are used to scoring points in Prescott, AZ. This one has the potential to turn into an unexpected shootout and I think we’ll see some fireworks in the second half to push this one over the total.
Let’s go offenses!
Prediction: 59-47 Bay Area
Green Bay Blizzard vs Arizona Rattlers (Saturday 6/28 @ 9:05PM ET)
The Play: Green Bay ML
Arizona is in disarray right now. They have lost 4 straight and just seem like a rudderless ship on offense. Meanwhile, Green Bay’s offense has been absolutely cooking, but their defense has been their vulnerability — which is shocking when you look at the 2024 Blizzard team and what they were able to accomplish on the defensive side of the ball.
Arizona stole the first game between these two teams in the dying moments of the game in Wisconsin, and I expect to see Green Bay get their revenge in Glendale this weekend.
Prediction: 52-43 Green Bay
Vegas Knight Hawks vs Tucson Sugar Skulls (Sunday 6/29 @ 6:05PM ET)
The Play: Vegas -5.5
Vegas has a great opportunity here to separate themselves from Tucson in the playoff race and really put themselves in solid contention to clinch a playoff spot in the coming weeks with a win here.
Jayden De Laura looked really great last week (albeit against a bad Iowa defense) and this Vegas team is coming off of a franchise recording breaking week in terms of points scored (again, against a very bad Iowa team), but I really believe in this Vegas offense and what they have been able to put together.
Expect a heavy dosage of Antonio Wimbush in this one. Vegas.
Prediction: 49-37 Vegas
