Another week of AF1 ball in the books. The Pacific Northwest continues to be a puzzling region of arena football, Salina is looking like they are turning the corner and Billings is still looking for answers. We have a three-game slate this week, with two games on Saturday and a rare Monday night game that will be one for the sickos.
But before we dive into that, here's how the Week 8 picks went:
AF1 Week 8 Review
Billings +3.5 - Loser
Southwest Kansas wins 49-31
Salina +12.5 - Winner
Albany wins 64-58, Salina covers
Washington -4.5 - Loser
Oregon wins outright 37-9
Man, Washington is a team I don't think I will ever fully understand. 41 points two weeks in Oregon, 9 points at home vs the same Lightning squad. Nailed the Salina pick, but was WAYY off on Billings. Might've been a little too early on the Billings turnaround, but we've got a new slate in front of our face.
LET'S FIND SOME WINNERS!
2025 AF1 Record: 14-12

Nashville Kats vs Albany Firebirds (Saturday 5/10 @ 7 PM ET)
The Play: Under 93.5
This is going to be the best game of the weekend featuring two of the very best offenses in the AF1 -- but 93.5 feels high. Out of 26 games this season, that 93.5 number has only been hit 4 times (realistically 3 if you don't count the ALB-CC debacle).
Nashville does a really nice job of running the ball with Carlton Brown & friend of the program Rob Jones Jr and I would expect to see them really lean into that to extend drives and to keep the Firebirds offense off the field.
This Kats defense has been solid all year and the last time there two teams played in Nashville, the Kats were able to keep it close and had a chance to tie it up late.
I'd expect this one to be a little close to 80 total than 93.5, with the Kats having an opportunity to steal this one.
Prediction: 44-40 Albany

Washington Wolfpack vs Billings Outlaws (Saturday 5/10 @ 8 PM ET)
The Play: Billings -12.5
I just can't pick Washington again. I just can't do it. I can't rely on them to score points for the Over and apparently even scoring 12.5 points has proven to be a challenge for the Wolfpack.
Billings gets a chance to showcase their new-look offense with QB Malik Henry, WR Darius Prince & WR Kenneth Brewer and is hoping to get back in the win column for the first time in a month.
Prediction: 44-25 Billings

Corpus Christi Tritons vs Oregon Lightning (Monday 5/12 @ 9:30 PM ET)
The Play: Under 81.5
This is the one, folks. This is the game that will test your fandom of arena football.
Do you like arena football? Or do you like high scoring arena football? That is what this game is going to decide. You might learn a lot about yourself in watching this game.
A late Monday night kickoff with a retooled Tritons team and an Oregon team that somehow scored 37 last week against their own will. This is one that I don't know what to expect, but I just can not see this being a 42-40, 44-38 type of game.
This is going to be grimy, hard nosed football in Redmond, OR. Get the frozen pizzas ready.
Prediction: 34-26 Oregon
Let's have ourselves a weekend. Agree? Disagree? Are you riding or fading?
