In what has been an eventful offseason of announcements for the IFL leading into the season kicking off this week, the final piece of the streaming puzzle has been put into place as Overnght was announced as a broadcast & streaming partner for the the 2026, 2027 & 2028 seasons.

Now, a lot of the reaction I have seen is along the lines of "what is that?" or "I've never heard of that service before", which is fair at a glance considering the big name brand pull the IFL had earlier this offseason with Yahoo Sports Network & FanDuel Sports Network getting on board the IFL hype train.

What is Overnght?

Overnght is a 'new kid on the block' when it comes to streaming and started with a focus on Olympic sports like water polo, rowing, gymnastics, wrestling, etc, and are looking to break into the American mainstream with more familiar sports like football.

  • Overnght is a streaming platform looking to breakout of its niche and expand to a greater national audience.

  • The IFL is a football league looking to breakout of its niche and expand to a greater national audience.

From the jump, it seems like the goals are aligned.

But I think the biggest piece of this puzzle that is commonly getting ignored in the comment section is this:

The IFL is getting paid for its media rights by a streaming company to showcase their product on their platform.

That is a MASSIVE deal in the indoor football world. Prior to 2025, any time you saw the IFL on CBS Sports, the league was paying out of pocket to broadcast on national television. In fact, any league you saw on CBS Sports this decade was doing the same thing. The AF1 had a something similar with Vice Sports in 2025, where it was a partnership vs a "pay to air" situation.

But with this deal. everything has shifted -- and that is a good thing for the future of this sport and this league. With Yahoo Sports they get a partnership with a pretty big sports news & content site, and with Overnght it's an opportunity for both parties to grow together.

EDITOR'S NOTE: As I was about to post this, the IFL posted a good graphic on how to watch and where:

I get a lot of DMs and comments from fans of the game saying "why don't they just sign a deal with ESPN or Fox Sports for all of their games?!"

Cillian Murphy ftw

Folks, if it was that easy, I'm sure they would.

These media deals are complex, but THIS type of deal is what paves the way for something like to happen years down the line. While we may love TheIndoorWar, it's easy to forget how niche this sport is and how much room there is to grow.

If you noticed in the announcement, it is not just for the 2026 season but for the 2027 & 2028 seasons as well. This is a partnership where a company is investing in the IFL and, again, paying the league to be able to broadcast its product.

Considering it's own investment the league has put in to raising their standard for broadcasting these past two years and the influx of commentary talent that will be coming in to cover the game, it's great to see the return on that investment start to come to light.

"How do we watch Overnght and how much does it cost?"

The big question that drives anonymous "fans" on ArenaFan & Facebook forums crazy.

Overnght has a website (Overnght.com) and app where their programming can be streamed, and while we would love for everything in the world to be free, there is a subscription required for the service.

On the website, it starts at $11.99 per month, which would equate to about ~$60 for the entirety of the 2026 IFL season. Not 100% ideal (I think even the league would agree with that), but it equates to a little more than $1 per game that will be shown on the platform (~$60 divided by 55 games).

But luckily, the majority of the games will be free on the Yahoo Sports Network. So if you aren't interested in paying the subscription fee, more power to you -- you have an option to still watch the IFL live throughout the season on Yahoo.

All things considered, the folks that want to find things to be mad about will find things to be mad about. Once the season starts, we'll be able to talk about actual ball being played and I can't wait to dive in.

Speaking of football being played, catch me on The World of Football live on Tuesday evening 3/10 and on-demand any time after for our annual IFL Preview show!
